Experience

I completed High School in 1974 and began my career as a bare-foot doctor in Xinzhou, Hubei. I did my bachelor’s degree from March 1978 to December 1982. After my graduation, I was allocated to the affiliated hospital of Hubei University of Chinese traditional medicine (A-level Hospital) in the department of internal medicine, which covered accident and emergency department, cardiovascular department, Endocrinology department, respiration department, elder care department and digestive department. I have been involved in all the above departments during my thirty years of professional life as the side director.

During the period, I have also worked as lecturer from March 1985 to February 2000. From September 1991 to July 1992, I attended a training program of spoken and written English in the Guangzhou University of Chinese traditional medicine sponsored by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine & pharmacology. Upon completing the training program, I have taught courses in English for foreign students from France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Korea who are very interested in the traditional Chinese medicine. The courses included the Foundation of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the diagnosis of TCM and internal department of TCM.

In 1994, I was promoted to associate professor and achieved more than 200 credit hours per year as a teacher for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Foundation of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the diagnosis of TCM, internal department of TCM and Traditional Chinese pharmacology. In March 2000, I changed my job and began working in The Third people’s Hospital in Shenzhen. In November 2002, I was promoted to the chief physician. In the same year, I was put in charge of the lecturing the traditional Chinese medicine courses for senior doctors specialize in western medicine.

My advantage in teaching lies with my rich experience in clinical practice. I am able to prepare teaching materials that combine theories with practice. Using case studies, the interaction between the two is highlighted in my classes. Therefore, my teaching style has been well accepted by my students, who find it very helpful that I can bring out the key points while making them interesting and easy to understand.
